Dr. Adwoa Badoe...

 ... is the author of 20 books for children and young adults. Published on three continents: North America, Europe and Africa, Badoe’s books include a collection of folktales, a number of trade picturebooks, as well as readers for educational markets. More recently she has published Young Adult novels which crossover easily into adult reading. Between Sisters, set in Ghana, West Africa, explores the life of an impoverishded teenager who strives to live her dreams in the city. Her most recent novel, ALUTA, is set in Ghana during the turbulent years when one coup d’etat followed another. Badoe is a sought after keynote speaker and workshop leader, known for vibrant presentations which center on writing, oral literature, and African dance expressions.

ALUTA-- a different kind of story about Africa. A young woman, Charlotte, is just discovering the power of her heart and mind in the midst of political and social upheaval. Aluta is a story about strength, empowerment, struggle and loss. But there is the sense that Charlotte will live to fight another day.
